About The Class
For those who have completed the first section and wish to progress, Section 2 and 3 offer progressively more dynamic and more challenging movements. While these movements are more difficult, students often find this section easier to learn since the basics of T’ai Chi have become more deeply ingrained. Every class will include practice of the first section as well so that students can continue to get more comfortable with what has already been learned.

This class will also include Qigong as part of the practice. While Qigong can be used as a stand-alone practice, it also is essential to deepening the practice of T’ai Chi – especially if you are interested in the energetic side of T’ai Chi.

This class is currently a medium sized class with students of various experience levels. This class has a lot of energy in it and the current students have always been very welcoming to new students joining in.

T’ai Chi for Better Balance – Wednesdays 11:30 – 12:30

This is a T’ai Chi for Balance program.

Class Location: Lumina Mind Body Studios, Wayland
To Register: This is an ongoing drop-in style class. No registration required.
Cost: Free for members. Non-members can call (508) 358-6022 for more information on pricing.
Experience Level: This class is open to all levels

About The Class
There are numerous studies that have shown that practicing T’ai helps to improve one’s balance, reduce the number of falls a person has, as well as reducing the severity of injuries from falls. The T’ai Chi for Better Balance class contains movements that have been modified from traditional T’ai Chi to specifically help improve balance. Many of the movements in this program are simplified versions of the movements in the traditional T’ai Chi class. While the moves are simplified, we place an emphasis on balance oriented aspects of T’ai Chi such as weight shifting, posture, relaxation and conscious movement.

While not required, it is helpful to practice these moves between classes. Participants who practice more frequently tend to experience greater benefits of improved balance, reduced stress and greater enjoyment of the moves themselves.

These classes consist of a nice comfortable sized group with a mix of new drop-ins and more experienced participants. The classes are lighthearted, fun and vibrant.
